Her Excellency Hala Bsaisu Lattouf is a distinguished Jordanian stateswoman and development leader with over 20 years of experience spanning government, international organisations, and civil society — including service as Minister of Social Development and senior roles at the United Nations and World Bank.
Her Excellency Hala Bsaisu Lattouf, a woman of timber and caliber, brings over 20 years of experience in development and public sector work in Jordan. She held several senior posts with the Jordanian Government, beginning at the Ministry of Tourism. Her Excellency was subsequently appointed as Secretary General for the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation and for the Ministry of Public Sector Reform. From 2007 to 2010 she served as Minister of Social Development — a tenure of more than three years — after which she chaired the Social Development and Employment Committee at the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan’s Senate.
Prior to her ministerial appointment, Her Excellency served as Office Director to Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah. She also held senior positions with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as Head of Poverty and Gender programmes, and with the World Bank as Project Director for the Second Tourism Project. Earlier in her career she served as Executive Director for World Links Arab Region (WLAR), providing tailored educational programmes for youth in Syria, Jordan, Yemen, Egypt, and Palestine (West Bank and Gaza). H.E. Lattouf began her professional career in the banking sector.
Her Excellency currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Jordan and the Jordan Deposit Insurance Corporation, and on the Boards of Trustees of the Royal Society of Fine Arts and the Royal Institute for Interfaith Studies. She helped establish JEWELS, a local women’s empowerment NGO providing scholarships for Jordanian young women, and is a founding member of the International Women Forum (IWF) chapter in Jordan. H.E. Lattouf holds a Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science, awarded through a Chevening Scholarship.
