Dr Maimoona Sheila Salim is a distinguished social entrepreneur, youth specialist, and seasoned facilitator with over 25 years of experience across the private and nonprofit sectors, driven by a deep commitment to empowering girls, youth, and women.
Maimoona’s work centres on entrepreneurship, education, and empowering girls and youth. She is particularly passionate about identifying and dismantling barriers that hinder the progress of girls, youth, and women, and has successfully implemented strategies that enhance empowerment and inclusion — fostering environments where marginalised groups can thrive. With more than 15 years in strategic executive management and operational roles, she excels in skills training and development, collaborating with stakeholders from local government, the private sector, and international organisations across thematic areas including girl child education, STEAM boot camps, and self-mastery and mindfulness programmes. Maimoona actively contributes to the nonprofit sector through service on four local and international boards. She is currently Board Chairperson of Peace Players South Africa and previously held the position of Vice Chair for Women in Business at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. She currently serves as Chief Operations Executive of The SI Group. Her dedication and leadership continue to inspire those around her, driving impactful change in the lives of countless individuals.
