Mrs. Bura is an experienced reporter, seasoned journalist, and veteran civil servant with over 25 years championing peaceful co-existence, humanitarian issues, and the protection of vulnerable persons across Northeast Nigeria.
Mrs. Bura’s journalism career has centred on societal and humanitarian issues — specifically the protection and education of Persons of Concern (POCs), including Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs), survivors of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (GBV), and communities affected by the Boko Haram insurgency in Borno State. As a consistent voice for religious moderation, she has reported on Boko Haram activities with objectivity and balance. Her daily work includes facilitating trainings in communication, writing reports, and presenting and anchoring programmes on radio and television that touch on Peace, Unity, and Harmony. As immediate past Vice President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (Northeast), she participated in workshops, meetings, and advocacy activities across the region. She also serves as Information Officer of the Borno State Pilgrims Welfare Board, where she manages humanitarian communications for Pilgrims to the Holy Land of Mecca. Mrs. Bura is known for her ability to design culturally sensitive materials, advise on organisational focus, and provide institutional direction across multiple leadership roles.
